Why wear wedding pearls?
You have probably heard the old adage that pearls given and worn on your wedding day is unlucky. Well, I’m here to tell you, they are definitely not bad luck! In fact, there are several reasons why wearing pearls is a wonderful tradition, and addition to your wedding outfit; and it’s not just because they are the world’s oldest gem. So, why should you wear wedding pearls?
1. The pearls provenance
Throughout history there are countless references to cultures coveting pearls. The ancient Greeks associated them with love and marriage and believed that they would nurture matrimonial harmony. The Romans prized pearls more than diamonds; and in Egypt, Cleopatra was particularly fond of them. When we reached the renaissance, pearls were highly regarded as precious gems, and in many countries only nobility were allowed to wear them.
2. You are in good pearl company
Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Grace Kelly all wore pearls as a favourite item of jewellery. Michelle Obama wears them often and even Vivienne Westwood has often introduced pearls into her collections.

Pearls are the only real gem that is created by a living creature. No two pearls are the same, so each carries a ‘one of a kind’ beauty to them.

They have a lustre, iridescence and depth of colour that no other gem has, and their classic elegance and understated beauty make them a perfect companion to wear on your wedding.
