10 modern bridal earrings for your wedding day

Earrings are having a real moment right now. Something I, as a bridal accessories and jewellery designer, am very happy about. Pearls, large statement earrings, hoops, and ultra modern earrings styles are all in vogue. So, I’ve picked from my collection, 10 modern bridal earrings that can you wear on your wedding day.

Modern pearl drop earrings

Very long earrings are growing in popularity, and look equally as beautiful with hair up, as they do with hair down styles.  Their exaggerated movement and elongated style which draws the eye down the neck is one of the reasons for this.

Strapless wedding dresses have a wonderful open area around the neckline and shoulders where long earrings can draw the eye upwards in an elegant fashion. Long earrings can elongate the neckline helping to make you look taller.

Pearls are always a favourite with brides, and wearing modern pearl drop earrings just takes it to the next level. Threader and huggie earrings are not just beautiful for stylish more classic wedding looks, but a wardrobe staple well after the wedding day.

Gowns with lace, and cap sleeves expose more of the arm, and so wearing something like modern pearl or crystal drops can add some balance, and grace to the silhouette. They also give the lace look more of a contemporary feel, which will please some brides who are concerned that lace is old-fashioned.

Statement modern earrings

More and more brides are choosing not to wear a headdress, but wear statement earrings instead (think Sofia Richie ).  It can add a real sense of luxury to the bridal look.

Large crystal and freshwater pearls are really having a moment in the wedding world.  From big floral hoops, to large irregular baroque pearls.  Real pearls have imperfections. This is the appeal, and the beauty is in their imperfections. Rather than detract, it enhances their appeal.  Crystal and glass pearls are uniform and completely perfect in shine and colour.  Each have their own merits and can look equally as beautiful with a bridal gown.

With trends to towards more organic, sustainable and garden weddings, floral earrings can create a sense of natural beauty and evoke both a classic and romantic vibe. They can also be subtle for brides that don’t want to make too much of a statement, and equally bold for brides looking to shine with their accessories.

Modern hoop earrings

Who doesn’t love modern hoop earrings?  They come in all shapes and sizes, and will suit pretty much any bridal gown.  They are the opportunity to step away from traditional dangly earrings, but still giving you the opportunity to frame the face, and elongate the neck.

They are super flattering for gowns with a ‘V’ neck style, strapless and sweetheart because they give interest in an area that is quite bare and open.

Shorter wedding gowns have also grown in popularity over the last 18 months, and hoop earrings look fabulous with shorter more contemporary dresses. Especially off the shoulder designs which are more elegantly revealing.

Hoop earrings are still new enough in popularity that it adds an unexpected modern edge to the bridal attire. Making it a beautifully bold, and personal statement.  And as hoops are so versatile, they can be worn over and over again meaning it is worth spending a little more on bridal jewellery, knowing they will always be part of the wardrobe.
