5 Tips for choosing your Wedding Dress

Shopping for your wedding dress is a momentous occasion, filled with excitement and anticipation, and often shared with the most important people in your life.  It should be an experience that you can fully enjoy, embrace and celebrate.

Therefore, it is a good idea to do some preparation before hand to ensure that you get the most out of this experience, so I have written an article on 5 tips for choosing your wedding dress below.

  1. Do your research when searching and choosing your wedding dress.
  2. Be aware of your budget for your wedding dress.
  3. When trying on wedding gowns, honour your body shape.
  4. Deciding between fashionable and classic bridal dresses.
  5. Remember to be you.
  1. Do your Research when searching and choosing your wedding dress

Some brides to be will have a very definite idea about the type of dress they would like to wear for the wedding.  Others won’t even have thought about it until they get engaged.

Either way, it pays to do a little research. What is there available, what is your budget for your dress, and what dress do you feel will suit you? Take time for a little reflection on how you would like to feel; how you would like to look, and consider your comfort levels. You will potentially be spending the whole day in your wedding dress, so you need to be comfortable. Think boning, weight, and pockets…

It is a good idea to research your dress designers, and wedding dress shops too. Each of them will have a different style, and each might stock different designers, so you’ll want to ensure they reflect your own style. This will allow you to get much more out of each appointment, and allow you to come away informed, happy, and with luck, come away with the perfect gown.

 2. Be aware of your budget for your wedding dress

We all have one. It is hard when you find the dress of your dreams, but it is out of reach financially. There is nothing you can do about this, so don’t torture yourself, and have a plan in place to avoid disappointment, before you start trying on gowns.

Using tip 1, you’ll be doing lots of research, so you will know that there is a lot of choice out there.  You may even find a local dressmaker who can make your dream gown.

 3. when trying on wedding gowns Honour your body shape

There are many styles and designs to choose from, but not all will suit your body shape

Make sure you choose a gown that accentuates the parts of you that you want to show off, and complements your shape.  Once you have found the styles that suit your shape it will be a lot easier and more enjoyable shopping for your dress.

 4. Choosing fashionable, or classic wedding dress?

This is a personal choice, and will depend on your personality, and wedding theme. However, remember that the classic style won’t date in photographs the way fashion will. You can always personalise with accessories.

 5. Remember to be you!

Above all, your dress should complement your personality, be comfortable to wear (after all you’ll be wearing it all day), and make you feel beautiful!
