An abundant festival of pink wedding inspiration

Abundant Festival of pink florals wedding inspiration with british flowers in a wedding venue

Hi, I’m Becky, the creative director and owner here at Laurel Lime. Recently, I was privileged enough to be asked to be part of a photoshoot to provide wedding inspiration for in a real wedding venue, using British flowers, that would have the theme – ‘Abundant festive of pink’. It was a trye explosion of pink and it was glorious and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

I was first contact by Paulina Walsh , who was the photographer and planner for this creative work.  She and Cleo from Primrose Avenue , who is a wonderful sustainable British wedding florist based here in the West Midlands, dreamt up the idea of working with pink to transform a local wedding venue into a festival of pink florals.

Paulina, who is also midlands based, was one of the most relaxed photographers I have ever met and it was wonderful to work on a project with fellow local wedding suppliers. When Paulina approached me, she and Cleo were clear on the brief – beautiful, abundant, and all things pink!

Abundant pink florals with British flowers

Knowing how important it was to have abundant pink florals, the venue needed to be just as beautiful.  Cleo had chosen the historical 100 acre country estate – Alrewas Hayes set in the heart of England, with it’s beautiful lakeside room set up to accommodate the large wedding breakfast set up.

Pronounced ‘Awl-ree-was’, the estate dates back to the 18th century, and has been hosting weddings for over a decade and is a licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships.

Cleo wanted to capture the British countryside with her modern approach to floral design and bring the outdoors inside. It was important to ensure that the colours were bold, but still captured a timeless romantic and abundant vibe.

Using a meadow design of locally grown flowers lining your guest seating gives you the beauty of a softer, more informal feeling, but with the impact of colour, and if you choose right, wonderful floral scents.

Jewellery and accessories complement an abundant festival summer wedding

I wanted accessories and jewellery that wouldn’t stand out and clash with the bridal gowns. The first gown had a very tight fitting boned bodice with sparkling white sequins and chiffon sleeves. And as the groom would be wearing the most divine pink velvet tux, I wanted the accessories to blend.  So, rather than choose a necklace (and we couldn’t have a bracelet with the sleeves), I chose the Rosalind Earrings to ensure movement, and delicacy. The antique gold accent around the large Swarovski pearl seemed the perfect partner.

The model bride, Lexi, was styled with a soft low bridal bun, with wispy fly aways; so having a more unstructured headdress, that would flatter the hair and flowers. For this I chose the Seraphina floral hair vine .

Modern Renaissance bridal look complementing the opulent flowers

Bridal Look two was Modern Renaissance to complement Alrewas Hayes Orangery and décor, including it’s stunning mural, and large marble fireplace.

This look did not need a headdress. Hollywood waves, and deep red lipstick gave way to a simple fitted bridal gown.  I chose the Tallulah clustered pearl earrings as the only accessory. Bold, floral and elegant.
